Dale’s Walking Football team was established eleven years ago and has grown to incorporate various teams that cater for people based on age and ability. They currently ply their trade in the Greater Manchester Walking Football League.
As recent as March the squad, which holds over 50 players, flew to Spain to take part in an 8-a-side tournament in Portobello Campoverde, Alicante.
Three of the team back in November were selected to represent England. Terry Williams and goalkeeper Alan Thompson have been selected for the over 75s squad to play in the upcoming Walking Football World Cup in Sweden in July 2025 with David Brooks picked for the under 65s squad in March.
