TEAM NEWS

Tobi Adebayo-Rowling will serve a one-game suspension following his sending off at Fleetwood Town last Saturday.

The Dale gaffer admitted there will be no returning players, as we await news on Nils Ramming who pulled out of Saturday’s warm-ups. Sam Beckwith, Bryant Bilongo and Laurence Maguire all miss out.

Ryan East, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Casey Pettit, Dan Moss and Will Jenkins remain the long-term absentees.

THE OPPOSITION

Overview – Swindon Town are into their sixth season in League Two, after immediate relegation from the third tier where they spent just one season. The Robins have made the playoffs once in their first season back in this division in 2021/22 but they fell short in the semi-finals to Port Vale. Since then, it’s been mid-table security for the Wiltshire side, beginning this campaign in similar fashion currently occupying 12th. Three wins from the opening five came crashing down away to York City last month in a 4-0 defeat, with no victories since then.

Manager – Ian Holloway – 63yo, October 2024. The vastly experienced manager joined Swindon shortly after the 2024/25 season got underway after four defeats in eight games. After a promising second half to the season, Holloway signed a new deal and led the club to just three points away from the playoff positions last term. Ian’s most notable spell came with Blackpool, when he led the Seasiders to Premier League promotion in 2010.

Last Game – Swindon Town 1-1 Accrington Stanley (31′ Hungbo).

Top League Goalscorer (2026/27) – Aaron Drinan (5).

PLAYED FOR BOTH

Dale have two former Swindon players in their ranks, starting with Ryan East. The midfielder signed a one-year deal following his departure from Reading, enjoying a season in which the club made the play-offs where they were defeated by Port Vale in the semis.

Dating further back to 2011 is when Aden Flint joined The Robins. He made his Swindon debut against Rochdale in a 1-1 draw and went on to have a successful first season as the club won the league title in 2012.

We’ll be seeing a familiar face in James Ball this weekend, who joined the side in red last summer.
