Dale were soundly beaten by Accrington Stanley at the Crown Oil Arena, and the Head Coach labelled it as a huge learning curve.
“It’s a performance that isn’t acceptable,” commented Watson.
“We start the game a million miles away. We’re not focused, it seems like we’re not ready and that the game comes as a surprise.
“We make a mistake for the first goal, and we don’t recover from that at any phase of the game.
“There’s nothing about the performance that I like, at all. It has to be the biggest learning curve for us to make sure this never happens again.
“We have to make sure we are so much better than that. It’s not acceptable in any facet of the game.
“There are no excuses for it. Everyone has had midweek games, everyone has injuries.
“We start the game nowhere near the levels, against a really good team who are really athletic and run as much as they do.
“They beat us up in every part of the game. With the ball, without the ball, transitions. We allowed the game to pass us by.
“We have to address it this week.”
