The experienced central defender joins on a deal until January, following his exit from Walsall in the summer.
Flint, who has made over 500 senior club appearances, says the prospect of joining the club stood out.
“I’m happy to get it done”, Flint commented.
“It’s been a frustrating summer waiting for the right opportunity and I’m grateful to come and play here.
“I’m looking forward to help the lads out; I’ve got good experience to use on and off the pitch.
“It should be a good blend with the younger lads here.”
Head Coach Ian Watson is excited to work with Aden.
“Aden brings something we really need and that’s experience with skip being out for so long.
“He’s had an amazing career, he’s still really hungry to do well and come in to help.
“He adds so much to us and we’re really pleased that he chose to come here.”
Flint was born in Derbyshire, beginning his playing career with local club Pinxton before spells in non-league with Alfreton Town and Matlock Town. His spell with Alfreton earned him a place in the England C team.
His first taste of EFL football came with Swindon Town in 2011, making his debut against Rochdale at the County Ground. After a loan spell back at Alfreton, Flint played a huge part in Swindon’s sixth-placed finish a season later, losing out to Brentford in the playoffs.
The 37-year-old’s form earned him a move to Bristol City in 2013, where he enjoyed his longest tenure. Aden’s standout season came in 2015/16 when he won the Player of the Year award, helping The Robins escape relegation.
After a short stint with Middlesbrough, Flint joined Cardiff City on a three-year contract. Having already bagged a hat-trick in his career, the defender was momentarily top of the Championship scoring charts in the 2021/22 season, thanks to back-to-back braces.
Two loan stints at Sheffield Wednesday and a year at Stoke followed, before signing for Mansfield Town. Flint played an integral part of their promotion winning campaign and was named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2024.
Aden joins us after just shy of 50 appearances at Walsall, who are Dale’s opponents tomorrow.
He will wear the number 44. Welcome to the Crown Oil Arena, Aden!
