The full-back joins from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion for the remainder of the season.
Tasker, who captained Brighton’s Premier League 2 side on several occasions last season, says he is excited about the opportunity to play at senior level.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to play senior football, keep developing and show what I can do,” he commented.
“I’ve had some really positive conversations about the Club, and I’m looking forward to being part of the group. I want to play as many games as I can, help the team and make the most of the experience.
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans, getting plenty of senior football under my belt and hopefully having a really positive season with the Club.
“I’m ambitious, and I want to show what I can do at senior level. Rochdale feels like a really good place for me to do that.”
Head Coach Ian Watson says Tasker will add a lot to the group.
“Charlie’s data from his Premier League 2 appearances is exceptional,” he commented.
“He comes highly recommended from people that we’ve spoken to. We’ve watched a lot of him; he’s very athletic and brings a lot of pace to the team.
“He’s technically very good and can handle the ball really well, which is what we want from our full backs.”
Tasker joined his boyhood club Brighton at the age of eight, progressing through the ranks to sign scholarship terms.
He was a regular at Under-18 level before making the step up to the Seagulls’ Under-21s, featuring for their Premier League 2 campaign.
Tasker was involved in several Premier League matchday squads towards the end of the 2024/25 season, before making his First Team debut in a 6-0 Carabao Cup win at Oxford United last August.
Last season, the 20-year-old was a regular for the Under-21 side, as they went on to win the Premier League 2 playoffs.
