3,674 home fans attended the game and the Dale boss is confident his side will produce for them.
“The supporters are amazing,” Watson commented.
“I keep getting asked questions about it, and I feel like I haven’t got the words to say how good they are.
“I need to be better for them. At the minute, I’m not delivering on what their expectations are, and that’s something I will work as hard as I possibly can to turn this around and get that momentum.
“When it does click, there’s no doubt that when we get this going, it’s going to be really strong, and the fans just need to stick with me for now, and we’ll produce for sure.”
Watson has had injuries to contend with at the start of the season, with Bryant Bilongo also missing through suspension on Saturday.
The Dale boss welcomed new loan signing Kane Taylor and our all-time leading goalscorer Ian Henderson into his squad but did lose Devante Rodney through injury.
“Devante hasn’t been right; he’s been trying to play through pain. He had a steroid injection on Tuesday that settled one side, but the other side flared up.
“He was trying because he wants to help the Club so much, but I could just tell in training that he wasn’t right and he wasn’t able to finish the session. So it was the right thing to do to leave him out.
“Kane has had a very good upbringing through Manchester City, and Villa have seen a very good prospect in him. He carries the ball really well and has the athleticism that we need in moments.
“He’s got real quality high up the pitch and can play in a number of positions, which always helps. He’s going to be very good for us.
“It was really good to have Hendo back. You can see how important he is to the group. He and Skip both drive it, and it was nice to have him back.”
