THE OPPOSITION
Overview – Following our Bank Holiday August meeting, the U’s picked up their first maximum of the season over Carlisle United, however their early season struggles continued with a further seven games winless before a managerial change. Steve Morison was relieved of his duties and in came Chris Agutter from Worthing, who picked up his first win at the fourth attempt, another 2-1 win. Their inconsistency with form saw them go another five games without a win and exits from two cup competitions. 2026 has proved more promising with five defeats from 16 games with impressive away wins at Hartlepool United and Scunthorpe United. Sutton’s last two outings at the VBS has seen them lose 5-0 and 3-0 to relegation threatened Morecambe and Truro City, bouncing back to beat ten-man Eastleigh in midweek.
Manager – Chris Agutter – 42yo, appt 3rd Oct 2025. After a difficult opening to the season under Steve Morison, Sutton turned to the former Worthing boss after just one win in 16 games. Agutter claimed his first win in early November and has since steadied the ship to steer Sutton to eight points above the relegation zone.
