“I thought for the first half an hour of the second half we were very good,” said the Gaffer.
“We got into some really dangerous positions but the ball probably just didn’t quite drop for us. “We imposed our style of play but the conditions [blustery winds] were horrendous. It was a real leveller and I think that suited them more than us.
“But all in all I thought we were the better team. The signings we’ve made are going to improve us. We look like a very solid outfit at the moment – we just need to do that hard bit and put the ball in the goal.
“Like I said, we caused them a lot of problems in that second half, but I feel like it’s quite a regular thing where I say that we play well and don’t win. The clean sheet is alway a positive. I can’t really remember Joel [Coleman] having a save to make. There was one glancing header in the second half, but apart from that, nothing. We were the dominant team but without maybe getting the rewards for that play.”
2014 Dale fans were in attendance on Saturday and Stockdale was pleased to so many turn out to back the lads.
“I just wished we’d have scored to give them something to celebrate. I was pretty standard as a player and did the jobs that I was required to do. I never had a song about me when I was a player and now I’ve got one as a manager, I just wanted to go over there and celebrate with them if we’d have scored! I think they’ll go home frustrated that we haven’t won the game, as we are.”
And the boss sent his well wishes to the fan who took unwell in the stand in the first half.
