Sam Waller Signs

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Sam Waller.

The 22-year-old, who has been on trial with Dale during pre-season, has penned an initial one-year-deal.

Speaking after signing his contract, Waller commented:

“It’s amazing. Coming in at the start of pre-season, this was my goal.

“Having been here before, knowing a few of the lads and obviously the supporters, it was a very easy decision.

“The club had an amazing season last time out and we want to try and replicate that, and see how far we can go.”

Head Coach Ian Watson added:

“I’m really pleased to bring Sam back to the club.

“He’s come in and trained really hard. He’s shown how much he wants to be here and be a part of what we’re building.”

Waller began his career in the Burnley youth academy, progressing through the ranks before signing professional terms.

He spent time on loan at Lancaster City and Hyde United, before joining Dale on loan in November 2024. He made 20 National League appearances, but his season was curtailed by injury in March 2025.

The shot stopper spent the first half of last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra, before joining Harrogate Town permanently in January.

He departed at the end of the season and has appeared in our pre-season friendlies against FC United of Manchester and Al-Rayyan.

Welcome back, Sam!
