The winger pulled up in training in preparation for our tie at Bradford City last week.
The scan results confirmed a grade two knee injury, with Hayes needing a spell on the sidelines to recover.
“The results came back and he had a grade two on one of the parts of his knee”, confirmed Watson.
“It’s going to be six to eight weeks before he’s back.
“It’s another one that has hit us hard, we seem to suffer another one but it’s just about how we react as a group.
“There’s no sulking or victim mentality, injuries happen in football.
“We’re going to miss him because he brings something different but we have to adapt and make sure we’re ready regardless.”
