The 24-year-old joins from South Shields for an undisclosed fee, penning a two-year deal.
Jenkins, who worked under Head Coach Ian Watson and Assistant Carl Magnay last season, commented:
“I’m delighted to get it over the line and really looking forward to getting going.
“I worked under Ian and Carl for a full season, and I played my best football under them. When I got the phone call to say it was a possibility, it was a no-brainer for me.
“Rochdale have always been a club I’ve kept my eye on. I know how much it means to the fans and they’re obviously in the right place now, in the EFL.
“I’ll work hard and bring energy. I’m combative, but I also like to create chances, score goals and make things happen at the top end of the pitch.”
Head Coach Watson added:
“We’re really excited about bringing Will to the Football Club. I think the Rochdale fans will love him a lot.
“He’s all in with every action and has an elite mindset. He always wants to learn and improve, which is exactly what we’re looking for in a player.”
Jenkins has risen through the ranks at South Shields, who he joined at the age of 15.
He enjoyed loan spells at Dunston UTS and Morpeth Town, in the 22/23 and 23/24 campaigns respectively, before becoming a mainstay in South Shields’ midfield.
Last season, under the leadership of Ian Watson, Jenkins featured in every league match, scoring eight goals, as South Shields finished second with 95 points in National League North.
