On a recent family holiday to the United States, our Managing Director, Andy Duff, visited Rochdale Village, a housing cooperative in Queens, New York.
He presented two squad-signed 24/25 home shirts, which will be proudly displayed at their community and management offices. He also discussed the history of the club and explained the vision of the Ogden Family.
Andy also showcased the recent For Generations To Come video to Rochdale Village’s Board of Directors and members of the management team.
“About 12 months ago, I started to look into finding different Rochdales around the world to see if we could establish a relationship and tell them about the football club,” commented Andy.
“To discover that the largest Rochdale outside of Greater Manchester is in New York City and was even named after Rochdale (Lancashire) was such a revelation.
“Hopefully, there is an opportunity to build on this visit and grow the relationship with community soccer sessions, a pop-up retail store at certain times of the year or even a NYC Supporters Club!
“It was a privilege to present Rochdale AFC to another Rochdale and I’m very grateful for the welcome and hospitality that we received on our visit.”
Rochdale Village was named after the English town of Rochdale, birthplace of the Rochdale Principles of Cooperation developed by early homesteading pioneers.
Opened in 1963, Rochdale Village was established to provide affordable homeownership and create attractive housing for working-class families with moderate incomes.
Envisioned as a city within a city, this vibrant community spans 120 acres, offering residents open green spaces and a suburban feel. At the time of its opening, Rochdale Village was the largest private housing cooperative in the world.
