We Showed Our Strengths – Middleton

Glenn Middleton said Dale showed their strengths in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Fleetwood Town.

Goals from Dajaune Brown and Aden Flint got his team off to a perfect start, which despite the hosts pulling one back and Dale seeing Tobi Adebayo-Rowling sent off, was enough to earn three points.

“It was enjoyable to be involved in,” commented Middleton.

“I think we started well and in the first 20 minutes they couldn’t live with us.

“We probably let the game get away from us a little bit and the manager made sure we got on top of that for the start of the second-half.

“I think in the most important parts of the game, we carried out our game plan really well, and we’ve come away with the three points.

“We really showed our strengths at times today. Everything that happened in the game, we were told about. We knew we would be on top but also knew we would have to suffer at times. I think when we were on top, we really made the most of it.”

Middleton provided the assist for Brown’s opener in the eighth minute and believes the team are becoming more familiar with one another.

“It’s coming with playing with each other more often. In training, you can see it.

“Everybody is understanding how I like to play, to be as direct as I can and to put balls in the box whenever I can.

“I generally get the same feeling from scoring as I do setting one up, so I love putting the ball into the box, and it was a brilliant finish [from Dajaune].”
