THE OPPOSITION
Overview – The Shrimpers’ attention turned to Isuzu FA Trophy action following December’s abandoned fixture, comfortably overcoming Truro City and recently secured passage through the fifth round where they’ll take on Chatham Town. As for the league, doubts crept in when they went down to a 2-1 defeat to Tamworth, however Kevin Maher and his side’s form since then has been impressive. Three wins including a 4-1 rout over Eastleigh and two draws on their travels means they are just a point shy of the Playoffs with as many as three games in hand on the two sides directly above them. With just 23 goals conceded this term, the league’s meanest defences will be matched up together with Dale netting just four more goals than the side from Essex.
