THE OPPOSITION
Overview – The Wood began the season empty handed after Dale’s opening day victory back in August. Not many would’ve expected the form the promoted side mustered up throughout the rest of 2025 though, with their next defeat not coming until the 25th October at Forest Green Rovers, a run of 14 matches picking up points. The Hertfordshire side also took that form in to the FA Cup as they knocked out EFL outfit Crawley Town in the First Round. A rare home defeat to Tamworth in November didn’t seem to deter Garrard’s men who ended the calendar year with five more wins and another cup upset, beating Newport County at home. 2026 hasn’t been as plain sailing after three losses from four in the league and going down to nine men on Saturday, both Ilesanmi and Booty now unavailable for Tuesday’s game. Striker Matt Rush is second in the league’s scoring charts with 15 goals.
