Harvey Gilmour, Kairo Mitchell and Cody Johnson have all joined us for the 2023/24 campaign.

HARVEY GILMOUR
“Harvey is a very good player who was on our radar immediately.
“As I’ve spoken about in the past, when we sign players now, it’s not just a singular decision. There has to be a collaborative agreement on any player we bring in.
“Harvey was brought to the table by all parties – everyone liked him. He had a rock-solid campaign at National League level last season, culminating in a great experience at Wembley for him and FC Halifax Town (winning the FA Trophy).
“He’s proven himself to be a sought-after player. He was someone we were keen to get round the table and talk football with. From that point on, we had a brilliant conversation with him and were always quite hopeful it was going our way.
“He’s a good character as well, from my feel and character references. He’s a player that will be good in the changing room and have a good attitude to help us and improve Rochdale.”
KAIRO MITCHELL
“Kairo is a player that can really help the team.
“He’s a bit of a hybrid between a number nine and a target man, with high mobility but still goalscoring capabilities. That’s an area of the team that we need help with.
“I think he helps a lot of other people get the goals that they can get in a season. They need a player like Kairo to help them be what they can.
“But I also think he can add goals to us as well. Moreso than goals for Kairo, Kairo adds goals for the team. He’s a player, who upon watching him, I instantly liked his desire to work hard for the team.
“He’s in a Jake Beesley-esque manner, in terms of how humbly he runs for the team and is a real nuisance to centre-backs. I was happy with that trait about him and there’s still so much potential for him to fill.
“I can see why other clubs have paid money for him a couple of times. I think this could be the place for him and we could be the environment for him to go on what he can be, and that helps us.”
CODY JOHNSON
“Cody is a very good young footballer. He seems a great lad as well.
“Again, we’ve done our diligence and spoke to people about Cody. We met with Cody and got round the table with people from Stockport, had a good chat about where we see Cody’s plan.
“He can help us. We think he’s ready to begin to compete for a starting place in National League teams. Stockport were happy that we were the right place for that.
“Cody seemed very keen which is great, and he’s a giddy young footballer that wants to get his career going and improve himself.
“There’s plenty there for us to think that he can be a really key young player for us, that can support the squad and take his chance when the time comes, to stake his claim and his place on our team.”
