The Club legend made 37 appearances in all competitions last season, making some vital contributions to our promotion back to the EFL.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to continue my dream for another year,” Henderson commented.
“You don’t think it’s going to continue, but thankfully I got a lot of game time towards the end of last season and produced some magic moments. The new manager has taken over now, and he’s seen that as something that may be required, along with everything else I can bring off the pitch in terms of leadership.
“Last season was incredible. You play a lot of your career not having a lot of success. So, to have that moment, that culmination of hard work, determination and great performances throughout the season and actually get promoted, is the tip of the iceberg in respect to achievements. The celebrations thereafter were absolutely amazing, but the reality is that a week or two after, that moment has passed and it’s on to what’s next.
“The opportunity came to sign again, and I took it with both hands. I don’t feel ready to leave the game. I feel like I’ve got more to give to the squad this coming season.”
Head Coach Ian Watson is excited at the opportunity of working with Hendo and said:
“I’m really pleased that Hendo is here for another year.
“He’s a huge part of the football club and the identity, everyone you speak to around the place mentions how amazing he is.
“He’s going to be a big help for us both on and off the field and I’m really excited to work with someone who’s had such a great career.”
This will be Henderson’s fifth season of his second spell at the Crown Oil Arena, adding to his seven-and-a-half seasons in his initial stint.
In that time, he has made 523 appearances for the Club, just eight shy of the all-time record, which is held by Gary Jones.
His tally of 169 goals means he is, by some distance, our all-time leading goalscorer, with nine strikes from just seven starts last season.
