The visitors raced into a two-goal lead early, but Ian Henderson and Luke Hannant drew Dale level before half-time, which came early after Jenkins required a stretcher following what appeared to be a knee injury.
The Shaymen regained their lead after the break, before Hannant and a Halifax trialist were sent off for an altercation off the ball.
Dale had chances to equalise again but couldn’t find the back of the net, rounding off our pre-season in front of a healthy pre-season crowd at the Crown Oil Arena.
Two quickfire goals in the opening seven minutes saw Dale fall behind. Zak Gilsenan whipped a free-kick from a tight angle into the very far top corner of Sam Waller’s goal in the fifth minute, before Trialist B swept home a low cross from the left two minutes later.
Hannant came close to pulling one back in the 11th minute, after Waller played a great ball over the top of the Halifax defence. Hannant brought it down superbly but dragged his effort narrowly wide of the far post.
Dale did pull one back in the 25th minute, through our all-time leading goalscorer. Casey Pettit switched the play to Silcott-Duberry on the left, who pulled the ball back to Jenkins. He drove forward and dinked the ball over onrushing goalkeeper True Grant, with Henderson on hand to chest home from close range.
Waller held on to Gilsenan’s curling effort from distance, before Grant was equal to Hannant’s diving header at the other end.
Hannant, who was proving a thorn in the Halifax side, then hit the woodwork, crashing a side-footed effort off the underside of the bar. The rebound fell for Silcott-Duberry, who saw a header cleared off the line.
However, Hannant wasn’t to be denied eight minutes before the break, when he levelled matters. Silcott-Duberry was involved again, getting away from his marker and crossing with his left foot to the back post, where Hannant stooped to head home.
He then flashed a left-foot shot wide, before the referee brought an early end to the first-half when Jenkins went down injured and required a stretcher.
The visitors retook the lead three minutes after the break, when Arian Allen slid in at the back post to divert a cross from the right beyond Waller.
Just moments later, both sides were reduced to ten men. Hannant and Trialist A were involved in an off-the-ball altercation, with the referee giving them both their marching orders. Both sides wanted to resume with 11 men on the pitch, but the officials refused.
Devante Rodney and Hugill exchanged shots off target before the former hit an effort into the arms of Grant after cutting inside his marker into the area.
In added time, Harvey Gilmour shot wide from a tight angle, and Ethan Ebanks-Landell saw a long-range shot deflected out for a corner, as Dale pushed for an equaliser.
It didn’t come though, as Dale rounded off their pre-season, with Tranmere Rovers to come in the Carabao Cup preliminary round on Saturday.
