The defender has been out of action after picking up an injury in pre-season, but helped Dale to a clean sheet at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.
Ian Watson, who also welcomed Cian Hayes back to the matchday squad, praised the defender’s contribution.
“You saw straight away how good Loz is and what he brings,” commented the Head Coach.
“I’ve worked with him before and I know how good he is. You could see it in the ten minutes he was on with the experience he brings.
“Hayesy has been magic in training, but I just didn’t feel like the game leant itself to bringing him on. We did Jonny [Smith] and Glenn [Middleton] instead who have got more minutes [under their belt].
“Hayesy has been chomping at the bit to get back – he loves this Club and the supporters and wants to show everyone how good he is.”
Aden Flint also made his Dale debut having joined on Friday, and Watson spoke about what the defender can bring.
“It shows what an unbelievable professional he is because he hasn’t played a lot of minutes.
“When I spoke to him during the week I asked him if he was ready to come in and play 90 minutes, and he said absolutely.
“I knew we need that, especially after last week. We didn’t defend the box well enough, and we’ve brought someone in who can do that and also be a threat in the opposition box.
“He’s a leader, he brings everyone together and that’s what we need.”
