Dale Secure Comeback Win At Chorley

Dale hit two in the second-half after trailing to complete a 2-1 victory at Victory Park on Wednesday evening.

Emmanuel Dieseruvwe grabbed a five-minute brace off the bench to extend the winning pre-season run.

The National League North side created the first openings with a 30-yard strike easily gathered by our Trialist keeper before a free-kick on the edge of the area was deflected wide.

As the game creeped over the ten minute mark, Jack Sampson won the ball high up the field and went to lob the goalkeeper who repelled the effort over the bar. The referee then brandished a red card, however after discussions on the near touchline with both sets of managers, he remained on the field.

Just after Dale had a great opportunity with Devante Rodney to the byline who sent a teasing ball across the box, the Magpies took the lead through Sampson’s back-post header at the other end.

Halfway through the opening period, Dale had the ball in the back of the net but Ian Henderson was deemed to be in an offside position as he tapped in from Rodney’s initial strike.

A well-weighted ball through saw Tom Carr clean through on goal for the home side but the shot-stopper made a fantastic point-blank save with the rebound also miraculously cleared, this time by skipper Ethan Ebanks-Landell.

Henderson and Liam Humbles linked up well in the second-half with the latter receiving the ball back from the number 40, his shot blocked from close-range.

Dale made eight changes on the hour mark and one of those, Emmanuel Dieseruvwe, got us back level. Harvey Gilmour showed great composure as he spun in a tight area and prodded through to the number nine who took a neat touch and placed it into the corner.

And within five minutes, he added to his tally. Joe Pritchard cut inside and the ball found Ryan East inside the area, he stayed calm and squared to Dieseruvwe with an easy tap in for his fourth of pre-season.

He had a chance to grab a third when Trialist B showed great feet down the right and used the striker who went for goal but it was well blocked by the Chorley defence.

Dale finished strongly to extend the pre-season winning run to three games out of three.
