Report | Dale Women 9-1 Eccles United FC Ladies

Four goals each for Ellie Fergus and Shannon Gill, as well as one goal from Jodie Cocker, meant that Dale secured their slot in the next round of the Women’s Challenge Cup in style.

Dale Women’s Manager Lee Atkinson said that his side were unplayable at times on Sunday.

“If I’m being honest, it was a stop-start performance from the players,” commented Atkinson.

“When we played our game, we were unplayable. We created a lot of good chances, and if I’m being critical, we should have scored more goals.

“That’s nothing against the opposition as they put up a good fight and played some really good football.

“But at times, we just needed to be a bit more patient in the final third and be more consistent throughout the game.

“It is another cup that we’re through to the next round in, and I’m excited to see who we will be facing.

“Our focus now moves to a massive quarter-final tie in the League Premier Cup where we will face Middleton.

“I know this game will be very tough for us, and we will have to be at our best to get through to the semi-final.”

As Lee said, his side will welcome Athletico Middleton Ladies to Rochdale St Clements [115 Crowneast St, Rochdale, OL11 5EX] this Sunday.

Kick-off is at 2pm, and supporters are welcome to attend.
