THE OPPOSITION
Overview – Tamworth secured their first-ever promotion to the fifth tier in 2003 and floated between both divisions before relegation down to the Southern Premier Central 15 years later. Despite finishing first two seasons later, the campaign ended null and void, meaning three more years at the seventh tier. Back-to-back promotions followed with a 96-point haul in 2023/24 and impressed on their return, finishing tenth including an FA Cup run to remember, with wins over Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion setting up a tie with Tottenham, taking them to extra-time. This season has been steady as they went unbeaten in ten games across September and October, currently sitting in ninth.
Manager – Andy Peaks – 54yo, appointed Feb 2022, the former long-standing Rushden & Diamonds gaffer is now the second-longest serving manager in the league, guiding his side to promotion in 2024 and a fine FA Cup run last term when they hosted Tottenham Hotspur.

Just two names have played for both of these teams, one of those a member of our 2022/23 squad, Danny Lloyd. He made 15 appearances for Tamworth in 2013 in a two-month spell, scoring twice.
The other former Dale man is Javan Vidal who joined the club on non-contract terms also in 2013, going on to join the Lambs in the National League North the following campaign.
