Ody Alfa Joins Dale

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of winger Ody Alfa.

The 25-year-old has penned an initial one-year-deal at the Crown Oil Arena.

Alfa, who impressed with Chelmsford City in the National League South last season, thinks Dale will be the right fit for him.

“I’m happy to be here,” he commented.

“It’s really exciting. I think it’s the right place for me and I’m happy to get the deal done.

“I had really positive talks with the gaffer. He told me I was someone who could fit into the system and that I could bring my skillset to really help the team out.

“It was a no-brainer for me because that’s what I’m looking for. I want to give my best and help the team as best as I can.”

Head Coach Jimmy McNulty commented:

“We are delighted to have secured the addition of Ody to our group.

“Ody has different qualities from what we currently have within the squad. His attributes are something we have been looking to add for the upcoming season, and the different challenges that the National League poses.

“There were a number of clubs interested in Ody after some really bright performances in Chelmsford’s playoff campaign in the National League South last season, which meant we had to be patient in our pursuit.

“Now we have secured his signature, we believe we have added a player at a good age, who is ready to impact the team immediately, but also has further unfulfilled potential that he is hungry to prove.”

Born in Kaduna, Nigeria, Alfa moved to England during his younger years and joined the Queens Park Rangers academy at 14.

He progressed through the ranks at Loftus Road and spent time on loan at Spanish side Atletico Baleares, as well as non-league clubs Billericay Town, Maidenhead United, Dartford and Aldershot Town.

In February 2023, he joined Chelmsford on loan, where he signed permanently in October of last year.

He made 33 appearances as they reached the National League South playoffs, where they were narrowly beaten by winners Braintree Town in extra time.

Welcome to the club, Ody!
