Dale Sign Luke Hannant

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Luke Hannant from Oldham Athletic.

The 32-year-old wide man has penned a deal until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Speaking on making the move, Hannant commented;

“It’s all happened pretty quickly, conversations were held between myself and the gaffer.

“I’m happy to get it done now and being here as a Rochdale player, I’m over the moon about it.

“I achieved a good amount of games with Gateshead at this level and I can’t wait to try and finish the season well.

“I know the philosophies that Jimmy has and it was always a team I could see myself being a part of one day. I’m ready to help the team.”

Born in Great Yarmouth, Hannant spent time in Norwich City’s academy before joining Cambridge United as a scholar.

After leaving the Us at the age of 18, he took up a football scholarship at Northumbria University, playing for Norfolk-based Dereham Town, as well as Team Northumbria, during that time.

In 2016, Hannant joined Gateshead on non-contract terms, appearing for South Shields on a dual-registration deal. His form earned him a contract with The Heed, but less than a year later, Port Vale paid an undisclosed fee to take him to League Two.

He made over 60 appearances for Vale before rejoining Cambridge United in the summer of 2019, where he was a regular in the team that won promotion to League One in the 2020/21 season.

Two years at Colchester United followed, the final six months of which were spent north of the border on loan at Dundee.

Hannant returned to Gateshead in the summer of 2023, helping them to secure a playoff spot in his first season, which they were denied due to stadium issues. He scored 15 goals the following season as Gateshead narrowly missed out on a playoff spot, joining Oldham last summer, where he made 25 League Two appearances this season.

The wing-back will wear the number 12 shirt.

Welcome to the Crown Oil Arena, Luke!
