The 28-year-old versatile player has joined on an initial one-year deal, having spent time last season in the National League with Oldham Athletic.
Pritchard, who made over 100 appearances for Accrington Stanley earlier in his career, stated:
“Delighted to get the deal done and be back into pre-season training.
“The big thing to me was staying around the Manchester area, and Rochdale showed interest. It was a really easy decision and I feel like it’s a great fit.
“The staff bring so much energy, and on the training pitch it’s been electric. When you get that intensity from everyone, it’s a recipe to kick on.”
Born in Watford, Joe’s youth career began at Tottenham Hotspur where he spent five years and made two appearances in the EFL Trophy before his departure in 2018.
He then moved north with Bolton Wanderers securing his services for the 2018/19 season. Joe made his debut in the Championship in early 2019 against West Bromwich Albion, making four further appearances for the Trotters.
League One side Accrington Stanley then signed the midfielder who made over 40 outings in his opening campaign and scored his first goal for the club in defeat to Dale, in what turned out to be a consolation after Ian Henderson’s brace.
Pritchard made a total of 112 appearances at the Wham Stadium, scoring 18 times before a transfer to Milton Keynes Dons last year.
He made seven appearances for the Dons, then going on to join Oldham Athletic in February. He was announced on gameday at the Crown Oil Arena, entering from the bench in the second-half.
His campaign ended well with the Latics, netting two goals in big playoff wins which contributed to the Latics earning promotion.
