Defeat At Doncaster

Dale were beaten 5-1 at Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Youth Alliance League on Saturday.

Despite heading into the break goalless, the hosts netted five unanswered goals before  Tom Bradley scored a consolation from a free-kick.

Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Mike Sheron was pleased with the first 45 minutes but conceded Dale lost concentration after the break.

“Whilst it was exactly the same scoreline as last week, the performance in the first-half was much improved, particularly off the ball.

“We conceded the first goal on 50 minutes whilst defending a corner. Focus and concentration were lost for the next 15 minutes, conceding another two, which should have been defended better.

“We did score the last goal of the game through Tom Bradley’s free-kick, as he showed why he has been in and around the First Team squad. He demonstrates consistency and the ability to compete in all duels, and was definitely our best player, despite the result.”
