It was a day of braces as Sophie Coates, Hanna Chlodek and Daisy Mason all appeared on the scoresheet more than once in a 6-0 demolition.
Mossley got the ball rolling in the first-half and gave the ball cheaply away to Dale’s Nicole Malpus, the centre-half played an intelligent ball into Chlodek’s feet, who had the chance to run at Mossley’s defence for the first time.
After good defending, the visitors managed to prevent the striker from breaking the deadlock.
Three minutes in, Dale were through again after brilliant work from Darcy Moran, who played Chlodek through and her square ball found Coates, who fired home clinically.
Mossley tried to equalise straight after Coates’s goal, but their wild attempt went safely past the post.
Dale created a vast amount of opportunities and sustained pressure on Mossley’s back line. Strikes from Katie King, Coates and Chlodek were all placed narrowly wide of the post.
In the 24th minute, Coates and Chlodek linked up again. The latter sent through one on one with the ‘keeper, took it around her and smashed it into the empty net.
After 50 minutes, Coates made it a brace for herself. Her powerful shot proved too hot for Mossley’s ‘keeper to handle and Dale made it three. Sophie now moves onto 37 goals for the season.
Five minutes later, Chlodek secured herself a brace and in the process ensured the three points were Dale’s with a fourth.
Mossley Hill’s day went from bad to worse with a red card. After Moran, who was brought back onto the pitch, won the ball cleverly back, the Mossley player had a swing at the midfielder’s leg after she played the ball towards Erin Whyte.
The challenge for Dale became even easier with 15 minutes left of the match, the substitute Mason burying the ball into the back of the net and capping a five-star performance from Dale.
The scoring wasn’t over as Mason was the final player to grab a brace. The winger won the ball back and then delivered a lovely chip over Mossley’s goalkeeper, making it 6-0 to complete a dominant performance.
Assistant manager Jordan Morris caught up with the club’s website following the win.
“Everything what we have worked on in training this season has clicked today, from the ‘keeper to the strikers and the passing patterns were just amazing.
“We were just on a different level today and hopefully we carry this into the final few games of the season.
“Sophie has had an absolutely fantastic season and I reckon she will get to 40 goals come the end of the campaign.
“Next week will be one tough game against Crewe and we need to show the same levels as today if we are to progress in the cup.”
