Dale Loan Kane

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kane Taylor from Aston Villa.

The attacking midfielder joins on loan from the Premier League side until January.

Taylor, who rose through the ranks at Manchester City before signing for Villa two years ago, says Dale’s way of playing should suit him.

“I can’t wait to get started,” he commented. “I feel like this is a big step in my career, and hopefully we can have success together.

“I’ve had a warm welcome from the lads. It’s a tight-knit group, and I hope I can fit in nicely. You could see with what happened with the promotion last year that there is a real togetherness.

“Rochdale are a club that like to play, which is what I’m used to. It suits me, so hopefully it will help us achieve a lot.”

Head Coach Ian Watson added:

“We’re delighted to get Kane in. He brings a lot of athleticism and quality to the team, alongside experience in League Two.

“Aston Villa have been amazing with us to allow him to come out. He had higher options.

“Kane really wanted to come to play for Rochdale, and everyone’s worked really hard to get it over the line. We’re really pleased he’s here.”

Taylor was born in Birmingham and initially joined Villa at an early age, before signing for City aged 14.

He penned a scholarship deal with the Citizens in 2021, helping them to win the Under-18 Premier League National final in 2023, as he registered an assist in a 2-1 victory over West Ham United.

After becoming a regular for the Under-21s Premier League 2 team in the 2023/24 campaign, he moved back to Villa Park, where he again became an important member of their PL2 side.

His first taste of senior football came last season with Oldham Athletic, making 16 League Two appearances, scoring twice and notching an assist.

Taylor will wear number 21 during his time with us.

Welcome to the Crown Oil Arena, Kane!
