The 21-year-old joins us on loan from Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
The Irishman linked up with the Owls following a successful trial period last summer after moving to the English non-league pyramid in 2020 from his hometown Sligo, where he then enjoyed spells at Woodley United, Hartley Wintney and Binfield respectively.
Having only joined Binfield in January last year, Killian won Supporter’s Player of the Season as his six clean sheets helped the Moles avoid relegation from the Southern Central Division.
On 31st July, he signed his first professional deal at Wednesday, with stints in and around the First Team and the Under-21s in a camp at St George’s Park. He was involved in the matchday squad for the first time in their Carabao Cup visit to Premier League side Brentford, taking his place on the bench in the penalty shootout defeat.
Barrett then joined fellow National League side Solihull Moors in December on an initial one-month deal, making his debut in the Moors’ win over Aldershot Town as he linked up with new Dale teammate Michael Adu-Poku.
After two clean sheets in five games and unbeaten in his time at the club, the six foot four shot-stopper’s loan was extended until February, making his ninth and final appearance in a 1-1 draw at Wealdstone.
Barrett, who comes straight into the squad to face Aldershot Town, commented:
“I’m just buzzing to get going, I saw where the club are in the league and it looks like a really good challenge for myself”, says Barrett.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how the club can finish this season off.
“It was my first time playing men’s senior football (at Solihull) and after a couple of games I got comfortable and trusted my ability.
“I hope I can come here and do the same.”
Barrett will take squad number one during his time with us.
